Kathmandu, Bagmati Province — The National Health Training Center (NHTC), Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and WHO Country Office for Nepal, with support from The Pandemic Fund, conducted two batches of in-service training on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) for health-care professionals from 4–6 May and 18–20 May 2026. The in-service training, aimed at health cadre staff within the health system, aligned with the newly finalized Learning Resource Package (LRP) on AMR containment developed by the National Health Training Center, MoHP. A total of 30 health-care workers from all provinces, including laboratory professionals, nurses, pharmacy officers, health assistants and auxiliary health workers, strengthened their knowledge of AMR containment, antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention and control, and implementation of Nepal’s National Action Plan on AMR. The training also enhanced participants’ understanding of their roles and expected competencies in AMR containment within their routine work, with a focus on standardized practices, service quality, and national policies and guidelines. Feedback collected from trainees and facilitators will further refine the LRP for its endorsement and nationwide scale-up, supporting standardized, sustainable and institutionalized AMR training within Nepal’s national in-service training system.
